About
The Women's Health Centre covers obstetrics and gynaecology across a woman's life, from family planning and pre-conception checks to menopause. Obstetricians and maternal-fetal medicine specialists work with nurses and anaesthetists, and antenatal screening covers conditions such as Down syndrome and thalassaemia. The Gynecology Centre on the 4th floor, run separately, deals with the diagnosis and surgery of cervical, ovarian and endometrial cancer.
The hospital traces its history to 1898, when it opened under royal patronage as a small nursing home for foreign residents, and it still names women's health, maternity, paediatrics and gynaecology among its strengths. It lists JCI accreditation and Thailand's Hospital Accreditation.
Its emergency page lists interpretation in a range of European and Asian languages, among them French, German, Spanish, Italian, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Japanese, Cantonese and Mandarin. BNH publishes antenatal and Birth & Care delivery packages.
Women's Health and OB-GYN Services
Care at the Women's Health Centre starts before pregnancy, with pre-conception checks and family planning, and continues to menopause. Obstetricians work alongside maternal-fetal medicine specialists, anaesthetists and nurses, and antenatal screening includes tests for Down syndrome and thalassaemia.
The labour unit is staffed around the clock, with four delivery rooms plus rooms for caesareans, a nurse for each mother, and an obstetrician, a neonatal paediatrician and an anaesthetist available. A partner or relative can stay until the baby is born, and babies needing intensive care go to the NICU. Cancers of the cervix, ovary and endometrium are diagnosed and treated at the hospital's Gynecology Centre (4th floor), including by laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
Antenatal and Birth & Care packages are published. To use a delivery package you must be at least 36 weeks pregnant (35 with twins) and have had your pre-delivery tests at BNH.
