Fertility care in Chiang Mai
A small number of fertility clinics in northern Thailand, alongside hospital women's health services. Confirm current services, practitioners, fees and availability directly with each provider.

5 providers in Chiang MaiChiang Mai has far fewer fertility providers than Bangkok, but enough that couples and women living in the north do not always need to travel south. The two dedicated clinics on this site take quite different approaches. Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic, opened in 2016 by doctors who teach at a medical school, lists IVF and ICSI, embryo genetic testing and freezing of eggs, sperm and embryos, and states RTAC accreditation. Apichart IVF, a doctor-led clinic on Huay Kaew Road, publishes a single all-inclusive IVF/ICSI price but does not freeze eggs.
For gynaecology, pregnancy care and the investigations that often come before fertility treatment, the city's hospitals are the main route. Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai runs a women's health clinic that covers conditions such as PCOS, fibroids and endometriosis; Chiangmai Ram lists obstetricians, including maternal-fetal medicine specialists; and the university's Sriphat Medical Center at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai offers private obstetric and gynaecological care with a labour room.
What is published online is thinner than in the capital. Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic's price page was empty when checked, and Apichart IVF's website is in Thai only. If you are travelling from elsewhere, expect to ask more questions by phone or message before you can compare costs.

Practical information for Chiang Mai
Fitting monitoring visits into your stay
Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic is open every day, until 20:00 on weekdays, which can make it easier to fit scans around work. Apichart IVF is open for two hours each afternoon, 13:00–15:00, so appointments need planning. Neither clinic publishes a suggested length of stay for visitors, so ask how many monitoring visits to expect and whether early scans can be done before you arrive.
Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic says its site near the Chiang Mai–Lampang superhighway is roughly 15 minutes by car from Chiang Mai airport. Apichart IVF is on Huay Kaew Road, close to Kad Suan Kaew. Arrange a car or taxi for egg-collection day, as you will have had anaesthesia.
What each clinic will and will not do
Apichart IVF states that it does not freeze eggs or sperm and does not treat single women or same-sex couples, citing Thai law for the latter. Its package freezes all embryos and includes up to two transfers. Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic lists egg banking, but does not publish eligibility rules, a package or storage fees for it.
If egg freezing as a single woman is what you are looking for, ask the clinic directly whether you are eligible before planning travel, and consider whether a Bangkok clinic with published rules suits you better.
Language
Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic lists an interpreter service and says it treats foreign residents and visitors from abroad. Apichart IVF's website is in Thai only, so check what English support is available before booking. Among the hospitals, multilingual case coordinators are listed at Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai and interpreters at Chiangmai Ram.
Costs
Apichart IVF publishes an all-inclusive IVF or ICSI cycle at THB 200,000, covering stimulation, monitoring, egg collection, laboratory work, freezing of all embryos, a year's storage of up to ten embryos and up to two transfers; later transfers from stored embryos are THB 30,000 each. Its IUI prices run from THB 6,000 to 12,000 depending on medication.
Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic did not show prices online when checked, so ask for a written quote. Fertility treatment is generally paid for by the patient; the UK government points out that Thai hospitals want payment guaranteed before they treat you.
If something goes wrong after egg collection
The HFEA advises contacting your clinic at once if, in the week after collection, you develop a swollen or painful stomach, nausea or vomiting, breathlessness, faintness or reduced urine. Ask your clinic how to reach it out of hours, particularly if it keeps short opening times.
For an emergency, call 1669. Round-the-clock emergency care is published by Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai, and Chiangmai Ram describes ambulances staffed by emergency teams day and night.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have IVF in Chiang Mai rather than Bangkok?

Is egg freezing available in Chiang Mai?
Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic lists egg banking, though it publishes few details. Apichart IVF says it does not freeze eggs. Ask about eligibility, cost and storage terms before starting.
Does any Chiang Mai fertility clinic publish its prices?
Apichart IVF publishes an all-inclusive IVF/ICSI cycle at THB 200,000 and separate IUI prices. Chiang Mai IVF Polyclinic showed no prices online when checked.
Who should I call if I feel unwell after treatment?
Call your clinic first, using the out-of-hours number it gave you. In an emergency, call 1669; Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai lists a 24-hour emergency centre.
