About

Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai belongs to Chiang Mai University's Faculty of Medicine and takes referrals from across northern Thailand. The Faculty's obstetrics and gynaecology department runs a maternal-fetal medicine unit. Its emergency room, in the Chareum Building, never closes.

For most international patients the relevant entrance is Sriphat Medical Center, a 171-bed private hospital the university opened in 1997 in the Sriphat Building on the same grounds. Its doctors are Faculty specialists, and its obstetrics and gynaecology clinic, labour room and nursery sit on adjoining floors. IVF and egg freezing are not among the services described in the sources.

The Foreign Center at Sriphat, at ground level in the OPD building, books interpreters (Japanese, Chinese and Myanmar interpreters are named), coordinates care, arranges guarantees with international insurers and organises air ambulance transfers. It lists links with more than 70 insurers and assistance companies.

Women's Health and OB-GYN Services

Sriphat's OB-GYN clinic, up on the 13th floor, handles menstrual and hormone problems, menopause, and care from early pregnancy to birth. The doctors listed come from the university's Faculty of Medicine and include specialists in obstetric ultrasound, menopause, gynaecologic oncology, and pelvic floor and laparoscopic surgery; the Faculty's own department also has a maternal-fetal medicine unit.

One floor down, obstetricians staff the labour room, and the adjacent nursery looks after babies up to 28 days old who need help with jaundice, early birth or low weight. Before pregnancy, Sriphat offers a premarital and pre-pregnancy check-up, and it provides the RSV vaccine to pregnant women.

Women in Chiang Mai who want to give birth privately under university specialists, with interpreters through the Foreign Center, may find it a good fit.
